Modified Lesson Using Social Bookmarking (Learning Activity 4-4)

 I chose to modify my PA History Final project by adding in Symbaloo. I chose this because it is a research project and it would be nice to have resources all in one place. A major advantage is that each corner can be for one of the four places students can choose from for their project and students can collaborate to find websites that will be helpful. A disadvantage is that some students may just wait for others to find good websites to utilize. 

Here is the project template with a general overview of what to do. Students would have detailed instructions on Google Classroom.

    This is an excellent activity for your 5th grade students to get into research. You have even given them choice in this one, and that is fantastic! Will each student have editing rights to the Symbaloo? Even though it is not a social bookmarking tool, I can see Google Explore citation tool also being used in this activity!

      I would love to give editing rights to the kiddos. I am assuming this is an easy thing to do and I am going to for sure look into it as I want to utilize this for research projects! I also agree that the Google Explore is an amazing tool. I already showed my coworker for her ELA classes and she is so excited!

    The layout of the research plan should really work well for 5th graders who need that scaffolding. Your research is carefully curated for your learners. I love that you shared the Explore with your ELA counterpart. I plan on incorporating Explore as well for the research project. So many cool tools you are sharing with your students!

The Pandemic factoring into the use of Zoom/Google Meet (Learning Activity 7-5)

Before the Pandemic I can honestly say I never used Zoom or Google Meet before. Since the Pandemic, I used Zoom a handful of times and Google Meet more than I can count. Last year once March 13th came around and schools were shut down, we had meetings weekly with our virtual students as well as with my team teachers. The faculty meetings and team teacher meetings were held on Zoom, but the student meets were on Google Meet. There are so many benefits of having a tool right on hand to connect with others. You can share screens, show your face, present awards, teach lessons, and so much more.  Having both in-house students along with virtual students poses a challenge at times. However, tools like Google Meet make it easy to allow virtual students to still be “with” their classmates. An Image Says it ALL (Learning Activity 6-1)

Once my students create their blog link on their Google Site. I plan to start with them adding a Flickr photo, citing it correctly, and telling me why they chose the photo. My students love to search for images, but think they can just download them and use them. I think it is important to show them a proper web tool to use and how to cite it properly. I also am interested to see what and hear why they chose what they did. There are many other ways Flickr could be used in the classroom. Students can use it to search for images to use on projects or interactive assignments.  I chose an ocean. It is my happy place. I can picture myself laying on the beach, listening to the waves without a care in the world. This is more than just water and a sunset. I think it is calming and beautiful. Rising Technologies in the Classroom (Learning Activity 3-1)

Technology has been on the rise in education over the past decade. However, the recent pandemic has expedited the use of technology in the classroom. Our school was in a slow transition to virtual learning learning, but now that transition became rapid as we need virtual classrooms set up on a daily basis for both face-to-face and virtual learners. The use of Chromebooks along with Google Suite helps this process due how user-friendly the products are. Many resources online now have automatic connection to the Google Classroom platform which makes delivering lessons easy. Furthermore, the grading system my school district transitioned to also has a built in feature to connect right to Google Classroom where grades are imported with the click of a button!
